WELS

Our congregation is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Here you can find synod news, devotions, and many other resources.

Read the EHV Bible Online

Our congregation uses the Evangelical Heritage Version of the Holy Bible, a translation produced by the Wartburg Project, a parasynodical group of over 100 Lutheran pastors, professors, teachers, and laypeople in fellowship with our synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS). This translation is offered to the church as a balanced translation, suitable for all-purpose use in the church and home.

Lectionary Calendar

View or subscribe to this calendar to read the the Scripture lessons, Psalms, prayers, and verses of the day for each Sunday and other festivals in the church year from our hymnal, Christian Worship: a Lutheran Hymnal. You may find it a beneficial and pious habit to read through appointed lessons prior the upcoming Sunday. Consider reading them out loud and discussing them with your family on Saturday nights. This extra time in the lessons will help you to hold God’s Word and its proclamation as sacred in your heart and mind.

Luther’s Small Catechism

The catechism is an essential resource for all Christians. It clearly and briefly summarizes God’s Word in the Six Chief Parts of Christian doctrine: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, the Use of the Keys and Confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar.

Book of Concord

The Book of Concord, made available freely online here, contains the core confessional documents that all Lutheran congregations and pastors believe, teach, and confess because they are a true and faithful exposition of the Word of God.

Northwestern Publishing House

The mission of Northwestern Publishing House is to deliver biblically sound, Christ-centered resources within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and beyond. Find Bibles, hymnals, catechisms, Christian books, Bible study resources, church supplies, and more.

Hausvater Project

The Hausvater Project seeks to equip Christian men and women for distinctive and complementary vocations in family, church, and society, by fostering research and education in light of Holy Scripture as proclaimed by the Lutheran Confessions.

Essential Books

Many books can be of great benefit in the Christian home, but three essential books, the Bible, hymnal, and catechism, lay the foundation for every Christian’s home library. For a more in-depth look at these books and others, enjoy two articles, Laying the Foundation for a Christian Home Library and Expanding the Christian Home Library from the Hausvater Project.

EHV Bible
Holy Bible - Evangelical Heritage Version.

The Bible forms the cornerstone of the Christian’s library. In stands alone among all other books as the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God that is clear, sufficient, and powerful to work faith in our hearts. Lutherans refer to the Bible as the norma normans, the “standardizing standard” by which all other standards are to be evalulated. There are many excellent translations of the BIble available today, but if you would like to match what our congregation uses in worship services and Bible studies, you can purchase a copy of the Evangelical Heritage Version from Northwestern Publishing House.

Christian Worship: a Lutheran Hymnal

The hymnal is an excellent resource for family devotions, providing a string link between the home and congregational worship. Hymns set the chief doctrines of Holy Scripture to music in a way that is memorable and poetic.

Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanations

The catechism is an essential resource for all Christians and is often referred to as the “layman’s Bible”. It clearly and briefly summarizes the Six Chief Parts of Christian doctrine: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, the Use of the Keys and Confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar. The catechism is an important part of family devotion, as Luther describe at the start of each section: “As the head of the family should teach it in a simple way to his household”.
